How much should we give?

Parish Ministry and the work of the Church require funding. We sometimes feel reticent talking about money and giving to the Church, which is understandable. In 2 Corinthians Chapters 8 - 9 we as Christians have good guidance on how and how much we should give. These chapters provide a Christian context and clarity, which we trust will be helpful as you consider increasing your personal giving.
Your Session commends these chapters to you.

“Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9, verses 6 and 7)

You do make a difference!

Gift Aid – For tax payers, filling in a simple form allows the Church to reclaim the Income Tax you have paid on your Offering - thus for every £1 you give, the Church receives an extra 25p. This makes a huge difference.

Bank Standing Order – Bank Standing Orders can be the easiest method of donating and this can be Gift Aided. Your offering goes straight from your Bank to the Church’s Bank account; no Bank details are held by the Church. It is
confidential and can be changed at any time.

Weekly Freewill Offering Envelopes – These can help you plan your weekly Offering, even when you miss a Sunday, and for Gift Aided Offerings we have 2 separate colours of envelope to differentiate between Gift Aid and non Gift Aid givers. It is important that we issue the correct envelopes to ensure we are submitting the correct tax claims.
Cash – Cash during the Service via normal Offering Bag.

Cheques – Cheques made out to High Church Hilton can replace cash - this offering can be Gift Aided.

Legacy – Legacies via our Wills are a good way of
continuing to support your Church.

Gifts – Single one-off gifts of money, perhaps to simply give thanks or for something special - this can be Gift Aided.
